Anger Management Hypnosis

Hypnotherapy for Anger Management

Anger can come in many forms, all of them damaging in their own way. For instance, there is chronic anger that is a prolonged, ongoing anger which takes life over and can lead to mental health issues.

Some people suffer from passive anger where they express themselves passively often impacting their relationships. Others may feel angry because they are overwhelmed and there is simply too much to cope with, or may direct their anger towards others accompanied by resentment, known as judgemental anger. And then there is volatile anger that leads to violent outburst or self-inflicted anger where a person directs their anger towards themselves, most often out of guilt.

But whichever form of anger is inside a person, it needs to be managed as there can be serious physical, emotional and mental repercussions. While some anger is a natural instinct, it is when anger starts to control your life and get the better of you that it becomes a problem. However, to do so, you need to have some inclination of where all that anger is stemming from.

For instance, could it be that you feel that you are being treated unfairly, constantly berated and belittled by others? Perhaps the domestic environment you come from has anger issues or maybe you feel trapped or frustrated in a situation and getting angry is your only outlet? In any case, anger that goes beyond a person’s control can lead to a number of undesirable scenarios. Some of these may include the following:

  • The potential to hurt someone close to you, either physically or verbally

  • The possibility of breaking the law

  • You may end up damaging your own property or someone else’s

  • You become extremely loud and/or violent

  • Regular arguments become the norm of the day

  • You feel constant anger with the inability to express yourself

All these situations are extremely distasteful and no one wants to be this person or be around this person. That is why you need to come up with an approach to master your anger.

How Can Hypnotherapy Help?

A 2004 research published in the American Journal of Clinical Hypnotherapy, showed that the subjects had much higher self-esteems after 7 weeks of hypnotherapy. The study involved 261 participants, out of whom some were made to use self-hypnosis 3 to 5 times a week. After the study period, they had fewer anger issues and were less impulsive as compared to the control groups.

This and various other studies have established the effectiveness of hypnotherapy in anger management. The therapy’s prime target is to make you feel calm and this is the first step in anger management.

If you are aggressive, there is no way you are ever going to deal with your anger. To master your anger, you need to induce a sense of calmness, which yields the following benefits:

  • It gives you a chance to find out the root cause of your anger.

  • It helps you to take a new approach towards your anger and everything that makes your angry.

  • It helps you to change the way you react when angry. Anger is a form of energy like any other and, if harnessed correctly, it can be put to good use.

  • It helps you understand that not everything is a personal attack.

  • It helps you to see that anger is natural but that anger taking over you is absolutely unnatural.

  • Self-hypnosis helps you talk to others in a better way. You learn to express yourself while staying calm and composed.

  • It lets you take control of yourself and not lot petty issues take control of your emotions.

  • It can help you deal with stress and all else that makes you feel anxious.
